Ad break
Just interrupting the series of posts about our big road trip with a short ad break. Celia's Basket is stocked up with yarns and stitchmarkers again. I may add a few more markers tomorrow but aside from that, everything is up, waiting to go live tomorrow night at 8pm Sydney time. Someone asked me recently why I am now setting everything to preview before going live on Friday nights. Well, I was previously getting complaints that I stock the store at odd and unpredictable hours and certain somebodies - you know who you are :) - said that they kept missing out on the goodies they wanted. So now everyone can see what is going to go up and if you really want something, you know what time to jump on the store and snag it! We are also introducing a new yarn this week. I have named her Beauty as she really is a thing of beauty - firmly spun superwash merino 4ply with a slight sheen. Put up of about 330m per 100g, there's enough for a pair of socks or a scarf. If you want a stole, you'll need 2 skeins. As I am winding these skeins off myself, if you want a larger skein to avoid knots, just send me a message through the store and I'll be h appy to dye up a custom lot for you. Labels: Beauty, store
Store update, new line of yarn
Celia's Basket is updated again, and this time with Surefoot, the sock yarn that keeps going and going, and Serendipity, a ned fingering weight wool and silk blend. Of late, I have been in love with semisolid colours, and I have been dyeing a whole lot of semisolids along with some variegated colourways. Neither should pool. i have turned into the queen of no-pooling. Take a look at these babies Those are some of the Surefoot skeins I dyed. Some ended up being a little underweight, and some were little "rogues" (2 or more knots, not quite the expected colourway, you know, rebels) and these have been discounted in the store. There will be a few more skeins updated to teh store over teh weekend as I find time to re-wind them to check for knots and other rebellious behaviour. Labels: store
Clear the Decks Sale - 25% off everything
That's right, folks. I want to clear the decks of as much stock as possible. There is a 25% off everything discount at Celia's Basket till 16th August. Some things have already started selling out so go grab your bargain quickly. I have in stock a lot of spinning fibre and yarn. The children's clothes MUST go! It's taking up room. So, why am I so keen to have it all gone? I will be having a new line of yarn come in. It's 100% 19micron Australian merino in 8ply weight. If that works out, I will also be stocking it in about 10 or 12ply weight. It's a lovely soft yarn, light and airy. I have tested it, washed it and rubbed it and it is still very soft. It will felt well too! I can't bring that in till I have cleared some room, hence, the sale. During the sale, I will still be happy to take orders for custom dyeing and spinning, but all custom jobs will not be discounted. Labels: store

Creative pursuits
It hasn't just been party party party around here. I have been "working" too. Granted that I have had two weeks off from my day job for Christmas and New Year. I have, however, been doing lots and lots of dyeing. I have a few lots of Blue Faced Leicester combed top listed in my Etsy store. As well as that, I also added two lots of hand-dyed Optim. I love Optim. It's gorgeous and soft while being silky and with lovely drape. It actually feels quite heavy. What I am most excited about is my newly dyed merino silk laceweight yarns. I only managed to get 7 skeins of that and so have made them one of a kind never to be repeated colourways. There are only 5 left so hurry if you want any of them. At first I wanted to keep them all for myself but realised that there is no way I will every get around to knitting that much lace, especially not with Alex climbing all over me. The wool base is a beautiful mix of 50% silk and 50% merino. It's so soft and silky, it's almost unbelievable. I dyed them in gentle blends of colours suitable for lace knitting. If you're like me you won't want your colours to flash all over your work detracting from the beauty of the knitted piece. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention my new line of sock yarns. It is a blend of merino and nylon but so soft you would not know it has nylon in it. Labels: dyeing, etsy, store
