I did finish it in time for the wedding and posted it. It arrived 2 days before the wedding! Talk about cutting it close! Well, due to the time constraints I did not get a picture of it between the blocking stage and the posting stage. So here's a picture of it blocking on the guest bed.
It's the first time I knit nupps, and I don't think I did too badly.

I was looking for a shawl pattern with leaves but none seemed to fit with what I wanted and I wanted to knit something tried and tested for once, rather than design my own. I searched Ravelry, I googled and found nothing. Nothing at all.
Then I saw
this pattern by Alina Appasov.

What I did not account for was that the cast on involves 411 stitches, and it has nupps! I have never knitted nupps! After a brief moment of anxiety, I firmly took a hold of myself and decided it can't be that hard and proceeded to cast on. Now I am about 9 rows into the 27 patterned rows, and it's not looking too bad at all. I am loving it!

I don't think I mentioned previously this shawl that I was knitting for mum. Mum wanted a shawl, but something a little more unusual in shape. Not a triangular one, and not a rectangular one. So I ended up with this:
I named it The Tines. Seemed appropriate at the time as the pointy bits poking out of the smooth body of theB a shawl looked like tines.
Then came the writing of the pattern and the testing of said pattern... About a month later and a few minor changes later.. we have a new pattern on Ravelry!

She sure is going to travel. I made this as a project for the "Will work for yarn" group on
Ravelry. The incentive was that I got to work on a shawl in my knitting queue with yarn provided by someone else and get paid for my efforts with yarn. Brilliant! I probably wouldn't do this often or for many people, but the yarn supplied was a skein of
Wollmeise Twin in
Blau Tinte and I was paid in
Wollmeise as well. So, I am just waiting for the floods to recede a bit before sending her off on her journey to her new home.
Travelling Woman is an easy pattern to follow. the best thing about the pattern, to me, is the instructions for
upsizing the shawl. I added a few extra rows of stocking stitch to the centre bit and lace repeat to the outer part and voila! a shawl large enough to wrap like a warm hug. It is not as deep as your typical triangle shawl. In fact it blocked out into a shape that resembled a crescent more than a triangle.
Here she is, folded and waiting patiently...

If you have a look at the projects completed from this pattern, you'll see a number of other projects. It is written for both fingering (4ply) and lace (2 ply) weight yarns. Starting in the centre, the pattern is worked outwards in 3 different lace stitches, ending with a slightly pointy lace border.
