POMATOMUS Progress!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I love how the colours are coming out. the pinks are not pooling at all and they look almost like a semi solid colourway although you can see the big differences in colour when the yarn is still in the skein.

The stitch pattern is coming out nicely too. I like the amount of stretch the sock has. That is particularly useful, I think, when knitting for someone else. I also learnt a new heel method! I have no idea how well it wears. The heel flap for this pattern is ribbed. I normally knit a slip stitch heel which wears like iron, so I am hoping that this heel will wear just as well.

Jackpot!

I found this blog while looking for a recipe for kuih bingka (tapioca cake). I love kuih bingka and it is almost impossible to find any here in Sydney, let alone a good one. There are so many recipes tehre I don't know where to start. I'd love to try the cake(kuih) recipes simply because it's so hard to find good kuih in Sydney.

I also like that she makes her asam laksa the same way I do.. or should I say she cheats exactly the same way I do! I love my Brahim's sauces! They taste home-made, or close enough anyway.

I have made a lot of progress on my Pomatomus socks. Only another 60% of a sock to go. I hope to be done by this weekend, but I may be overestimating how fast I can knit!

I also have a pair of green shortaloonies to knit and the buyer wants it embellished with little sheepies roaming around and maybe a couple of brown fences. How cute is that? I am loving it already. I am going to be using Jo Sharp DK wool in Forest and I am planning on using some cream coloured boucle wool for the sheep.

Okay.. back to knitting...

Sock Progress and not much else

I know it's been a while since I last posted. Nothing much has been happening here - lots of work, lots of baby care and not much knitting.

I did manage to finish a hat that I made for a customer:

Aside from that I have just been plodding along on the pair of Pomatomus socks I am knitting.

I am using some hand-dyed yarn and it's coming out quite nicely, I think. Not long to go now...I am knitting.. really, I am!

My sockapalooza4 pal is (obviously) not as slack as I am. Thank you, Deb! This is what I received:

The highlight of the package for me is the pair of gorgeous Hedera socks. It really is gorgeous. I have already worn them.
