Much of this evening was spent looking for ads for the Buyer Behaviour project. I hink I have had enough now. More tomorrow evening, I guess. I have so many ads from HP, more than I need. Don't know why it is so hard to get ads for some other companies. It's just idiculous. Some websites even make you pay to download the ads. Seems so silly. Surely companies would want as many people as possible to see their ads, so why make them so $%^# hard to get?
Also worked on my poncho. I love my new stitch markers! They are so much better than the loops of wool I used to use. The poncho now measures 6inches in length. I need to knit another 4 inches before I start the lace patern. i have decided on the pattern I want to use. It is from the Harmony guide to knitting stithes (2) and it is called the Ostrich plume. I think it is going to be pretty! I wish I had started it sooner now. I had absolutely no desire to make a poncho earlier in the season. Trust me to to start a poncho in the LAST week of winter! Oh well tehreis always next winter I guess, and knowing my luck, by then, the poncho will be out of fashion!
I really should re-knit the sleeves on my Huntington castle. What a bother! I can't bring myself to unpick the seams and frog back to whre I think it started going wrong. Maye this weekend.. but then I am meant to be doing housework this weekend. In case you didn't know, I hate housework, but I hate dirt even more. I spent 5 minutes yesterday scrubbing the pink mould(at least i think it is mould, it could be scum I guess) off the bathroom shower tiles. Strange, isn't it, how hard it is to get around to doing such a small job. Took me three weeks to get around to doing it, and all it took was 5 minutes!
Not looking forward to meeting Josh and Paul for the E-biz marketing group project tomorrow. I have not done as much research as I would like tohave done. So, why am I workingon my blog?? Er.. because thisi more fun than researching smart homes??
This is the first weekend in 4 weeks that I am not coughing up my insides. It feels good to be healthy again!
Chris and I went out yesterday. I needed new shoes to wear to work, so we went for yumcha at Kam Fook in Chatswood and then shopped for my shoes at Westfield Chatswood. Yumcha was ok, if a little expensive for what it was. Maybe we should have gone to Ting Ha. I managed to get a pair of open toed sandals within the first hour of shopping. That's quite an achievement, considering how undecisive I normally am.
Chris came with me to Lincraft to pet wool. Well, I petted wool while he hung around, but it was nice of him to patiently wait while I went around petting the wool. I showed him the Geisha I was interested in, but he thought a whole jumper in it may be a bit "much" - his words, not mine. I did end up buying some slip rings to make stitch markers.
I didn't get around to making the stitch markers till tonight. I strung the beads together while he twisted the wire neatly to form the loops to connect to the slip rings. Here's a picture of my stitchmarkers - all 14 of them. I used small wooden beads. Aren't they pretty?
I had a seafood voucher for Claudio's Seafood at the Sydney Seafood Markets, and so Chris and I went there early this morning to buy some seafood. We bought 8 blue swimmer crabs for his mum (and the rest of the family) and 2 dozen oysters. We also bought some baby octopus, prawns and marinara mix which I used to cook a curry tonight (thank you Brahim's Asam Pedas curry in a packet!) It was delicious!
A few weeks ago, I made a tissue holder. This was when I was sniffling and coughing and needed tissues all the time. I used some hand-dyed wool, and it came out in a lovely stripey pattern. Here's a picture.
On Friday night I completed my second square for the BASIS square exchange. I'll need to post it on Monday. I also received my second square from Thelma.
I have completed both sleeves for my Huntington castle now, and I have tried it on,but I'm not hapy about fit. it's a little wide, but from the picture in the magazine, it looks like it was designed to have a fair bit of ease anyway. The shouders look funny. I hope blocking will help.
Pictures soon.. as soon as I have fixed this silly shoulder prodblem.
I started a poncho today. I will be designing it as I go along. It's one of those knit from the neck down.
So many projects, so little time.
Now, how many times Have I said that, and nothing's changed. I am still casting on faster than I am able to complete my projects.
Currently on the needles I have
1. the Huntington Castle hoodie from IK. I have completed the body and the hood and sewn up the facing. I have made one sleeve. All I have to do now is to get motivated to complete that other sleeve. Does anyone else get second sleeve syndrome (not unlike second sock syndrome)?
2. blue cabled scarf. Looks like I will not be finishing it in time to be worn this winter. the temperatures are rising daily and the scarf is not even halfway there yet!
and in detail
Did I mention that I made up this pattern? I am very proud of it as I think it's very pretty (not that I am biased or anything..)
3. blue and green blanket. Pictures will come later.. It's blue and green(aqua?), oh have I mentioned that already? I hope to have it done by next winter. So I guess I do have some time to get it done. Right now I am very worried I am going to run out of yarn! I bought the yarn rather cheaply on eBay some time ago, and it's one of those discontinued yarns that KMart used to sell. It's a 60/40 wool/acrylic blend. It's in garter stitch so It should be rather warm.
4. a step above socks from Knitters. It's being knitted in blue Patonyle. I haven't done much and photos will come later.
I am very proud of myself as I started and completed a pig potholder tonight. All in a night's work.
It is for Chris' mum's birthday. It's not as nice as I had hoped it would be. My seaming skills leave much to be desired and the pig has lop-sided nostrils. I guess I can say it adds character. I used three strands of 4ply pink cotton held together and I made it larger than the pattern said. The finished size, excluding ears and legs) is 7.75 inches x 8.5 inches.
I received my second square from Thelma today for the BASIS exchange. I'll try to remember to take a picture. It's a pretty lacey square in a reddish brown wool. I'll have to get round to making another square for her soon.
After months of saying I'll start blogging, I've finally gotten off my rear end and done something about it.
Stay tuned.. there will be lots of pictures (mostly knitting related) once I fgure out exactly how this works.
